Intelligent E-Learning Environment Customization Based on Kolb's Learning Style Model

چکیده :

In e-learning environments, learners exhibit diverse learning styles, influencing their engagement and learning outcomes. Traditional questionnaire-based methods for identifying learning styles are often impractical and limited in online settings due to the dynamic and uncertain nature of learner behaviors. This study proposes a fuzzy-based approach, the Learning Style Fuzzy Identification System (LSFIS), to determine learners’ styles by analyzing their online interactions with content, exercises, discussions, and multimedia. The system maps behaviors to Kolb’s experiential learning model, utilizing fuzzy logic to handle uncertainty and partial membership, thereby enabling nuanced classification, including mixed or borderline cases. Evaluation against standard questionnaires shows that 89.07% of learners’ styles and group assignments were correctly identified, demonstrating LSFIS as an effective, behavior-driven alternative for adaptive e-learning systems, supporting precise learner modeling and enhanced personalization.
