Applications of Generative Artificial Intelligence in Enhancing the Training and Development of Various Engineering Simulation Models

چکیده :
The growth of generative AI is creating new opportunities to enhance engineering education, particularly in areas such as power and energy system simulation that require conceptual understanding and specialized software skills. This study examines a hybrid classroom–AI approach for teaching the implementation of a boost converter in MATLAB/Simulink. Students first received in-person instruction on converter topology and modeling methods, followed by an assignment to develop new model variants using generative AI. Data were collected through an 11-item Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using frequency analysis, normality tests, and the Wilcoxon test. Results show that AI most effectively improved students’ problem-solving confidence and provided supportive learning assistance, while performing below expectations in clarity of technical instructions and scientific accuracy. The findings indicate that AI can complement engineering simulation education but cannot replace human instructional guidance.
