Understanding the Feedback Loop: EFL Student Teachers' Experiences in Online Education

چکیده :

This study aimed to determine the benefits and impact of receiving and providing feedback on EFL teachers' online teaching practice. There were three online sessions in which five student teachers exercised their teaching practice, and 41 colleagues were observers and provided feedback. The data were collected by reflection on student teacher comments and open-ended questionnaires filled by observers and interpreted using thematic analysis. The results revealed that receiving feedback helped student teachers to determine their strengths and weaknesses, correct teaching methods, and practice more effectively as well as support them with emotional and motivational assistance. The results also indicated that giving feedback promoted reflective thinking, evaluative judgment, pedagogical awareness, and peer collaboration. The findings showed the mutual importance of the feedback loops in the EFL online teacher education process. The findings also indicated that peer feedback, organized systematically, could be incorporated into online teacher education programs to improve professional development and teaching competence.
