Open AI Exam as an Assessment Strategy for Improving Performance and Perception in Advanced Education

چکیده :
The spreading application of artificial intelligence(AI) revealed different affects on education and research. It seems that the evaluation mechanism of students must be improved to ensure about the quality of learning. In this study, the impact of AI on the conceptual assessment of engineering students was examined through a comparison of their performance in two exams including classic and open AI. The classic exam evaluated independent analytical ability and conceptual understanding, while in the open AI exam, students were required to analyze, critique, and refine the responses. The results revealed that students with a strong academic background performed better in analyzing and improving the AI outputs. Survey data also indicated 40% reduction in stress, 76% noted the wrong solution of AI tool, and the need for targeted training. Overall, controlled use of AI can enhance the quality of learning and evaluations, if it is accompanied by improvement in student's analytical ability.
