Exploring the Integration of Artificial Intelligence- Robots into Language Massive Open Online Courses in Universities of Eurasia

چکیده :

Capturing scenes from Artificial Intelligence (AI) robot-assisted learning and embedding them in Language Massive Open Online Courses (LMOOCs) have streamlined learning English skills in universities of Eurasia. Although research has begun exploring the affordances of AI-robot LMOOCs for teamwork, little attention has been paid to the effectiveness of these courses in English for Specific Purposes education. Using an embedded design, this quasi-experimental study examined the potential of AI-robot LMOOCs for English for Specific Purposes education for a sample of 1208 students from universities in Eurasia. Following a 13-week treatment, results from the modeling the data indicated that the AI robot LMOOCs group scored significantly higher than the LMOOCs group in addressing pragmatic language needs, as indicated by their performance on the Automated Communication Assessment. Qualitative analysis of teachers’ reflections suggested that students performed better when they were engaged in developing AI robot LMOOCs under the co-teachers’ tutelage.
